Your lips they tasted of the sea © music & Lyrics by Tony King 1993 Your lips they tasted of the sea On that Whitsundays night that you gave yourself to me And the wind in the palm was like a choir breathing in before a Psalm a choir breathing in before a Psalm I gave myself to you under the poyntsiana tree And Your lips they tasted of the sea Your lips they tasted of the sea And the Curlews cut the air like a knife With a song like ancient lovers coming back to life And the moon found it’s way to your feet And it crept towards your heart while I listened to it beat crept towards your heart while I listened to it beat I’ll remember every second for eternity And Your lips they tasted of the sea Your lips they tasted of the sea And then we swam into the sea I was the child I’d forgotten how to be And the sun was coming up as we walked into the shore It was written in my eyes I could never love you more written in my eyes I could never love you more There are no words…… And our lips they tasted of the sea our lips they tasted of the sea of the sea of the sea of the sea of the sea our lips they tasted of the sea our lips they tasted of the sea our lips they tasted of the sea our lips they tasted of the sea

Mandarin Sky 04:20
Mandarin Sky © 1997 Lyrics Kris Ralph Music Kris Ralph/ Tony King I had a dream big Mama was there I was feeling low Full of despair She said don’t be afraid It’s easy to see Since I’ve been gone you’ve been missing me You have no need to fear I’ll always be here I’ll always be here She had the bluest eyes Full of sorrow and love She held my heart as if holding a dove She said don’t be scared You’re not alone part of you must die To become fully grown Just have Faith You will always be safe You will always be safe She come to me when I cry She comes to me when my spirit is dry She comes to me when I look to the Mandarin Sky She stood between the ocean and the land Then disappeared as I held out my hand I’ll grow gardenias and Forget-Me-nots too To fill n the part of me that died with you I’ll make it on my own I know I’ll get By I know I’ll get By She come to me when I cry She comes to me when my spirit won’t fly She comes to me when I look to the Mandarin Sky

My Kind Of Angel © Tony King 1997 I don't believe in Angels with wings Or a choir invisible that does nothing but sing or golden light around a Boticeli smile 'cause you can't call them up when you're desperate to dial and Gabriel's playing that trumpet all day must make it hard to hear people pray but I do believe in Angels on earth who go about their business with no thought of its worth. They're my kind of Angel... Are you looking in the garden? are you looking in the Sky? Angels aren't marble and Angels can't fly but once in a while they turn up on time with tattoos and spanners and a face made for crime. They're waiting on tables, they're working in labs They're delivering papers and babies in cabs They do what they can but not always what they should My kind of Angel is bad and is good. Everyone's a devil, though the good book may scoff but a devil is an angel on a rostered day off They're my kind of Angel.... I've examined your body and you don't have wings. You don't have a halo and you don't always sing but once on a blue moon you turned up on time and killed the villain in my pantomime You're my kind of Angel You're my kind of Angel once on a blue moon you turned up on time and killed the villain in my pantomime

Black & White Woman ©Tony King & Gullifer Smith May 1995 I went down town to meet the queen of chess They said she’d be wearing a black and white dress She’d never been defeated ..even by a Russian and someone broke her heart...They said.. and someone broke her heart Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Everything about her was black & white she looked like a porcelain doll in the moonlight and she hasn’t seen indigo yellow or green since someone broke her heart you know that someone broke her heart. Yeah Yeah Black & white woman where did your colours go? Black & white woman Don’t tell me you don’t know. Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah She said I’ll move you around the board like a puppet on a string But real people.. that’s another thing.. If only they were pawns or bishops or knight’s I would know just what to do I would know just what to do.. Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah She invited me in to her sanctuary, past a gallery of black & white photography She said you Know when a lover takes a picture of you, they take away your soul.. you know they take away your soul. Yeah Yeah Yeah Black & white woman Yeah where did your colours go Yeah Black & white woman Yeah Don’t tell me you don’t know... Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah she said Lavender blue ..lavender green. He was the King and said I would be Queen. He went away and he never came back and the colours faded down the road in a Cadillac Yeah Yeah Black & white woman where did your colours go Black & white woman Don’t tell me you don’t know... Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah I had a broken !dream and I Know how you feel I’d like you to have something that helped me to heal inside this locket is a petal from a rose Wear it on your heart til the anger goes... until the anger goes.. Yeah Yeah Black & white woman Yeah where did your colours go Yeah Black & white woman Yeah where did your colours go Yeah Black & white woman Yeah where did your colours go Yeah Black & white woman Yeah Don’t tell me you don’t know...Yeah Yeah Don’t tell me you don’t know...Yeah Yeah Don’t tell me you don’t know... Yeah Yeah yeah..

Full of the moon © Lyrics Kris Ralph Music by Tony King and Kris Ralph I’m full of the moon She’s put me out to sea I’m a howling dog on a log of lunacy You left me too soon I’m full of the moon I’m full of the moon Though there’s no moon tonight I’m a three toed sloth A moth without a light You left me too soon I’m full of the moon In 28 days I’ll wane and I’ll phase In and out of love In and out of love In 28 days I’ll begin to feel brave Then she’ll be full and she’ll remind me of you I’m full of the moon I’m free but I’m alone I miss our crazy dance of love Your velvet glove , your heart of stone You left me too soon I’m full of the moon Your words slippery as a quicksilver spoon A half sung croon from the start She stirs the raging waters apart I’m full of the moon

Is that Jazz 03:47
Is that Jazz © Lyrics and music Tony King 1993 Sounds like there’s a werewolf living in your throat A little brown bag of something in your coat you wanna sing along but the melody’s absurd Zooobe doodoo do do Did you forget the words Is that Jazz Is that Jazz Is that Jazz You can turn up on time but the notes aren’t on the beat There’s a little cellar door down the laneway ’cross the street He smokes four packs a day but his saxophone smokes five It’s only curiosity that’s keeping him alive Is that Jazz Is that Jazz Is that Jazz They’re sleeping in chairs Living in beds A used needle playing Billy in their heads ‘round and ‘round the mulberry bush trying to find a park You hear more black notes on a piano after dark Is that the banjo players Ferrari? I believe it’s his manager’s The sun goes down but it’s time to get up And measure some more pleasure into a coffee cup People breath in but they forget to breath out Is their a Count or a Duke or a Doctor in the House Is that Jazz Is that Jazz Is that Jazz That’s what they tell me that’s Jazz Soo oh oh they tell me that’s Jazz

Sympathy Deep © Tony King The look on your face tells a story are you wounded and lonely again why do you knock when you still have a key come inside out of the rain This reminds me when we were lovers and the tears that used to be mine now all we have is each other and the salty taste of the wine And you love me whenever I need you and I’ll love you until you’re asleep Sometimes the love that will save you only needs to be sympathy deep Why do we leave ourselves open for the jackboots of love to walk in just to wipe their feet on our secrets and the next day forget where they’ve been Can I come in and play on your piano and we’ll sing ourselves back from the dead cause I know you’ll be gone in the morning with a little more peace in your head And you love me whenever I need you and I’ll love you until you’re asleep Sometimes the love that will save you only needs to be sympathy deep Sometimes it feels like the future is as delicate as a thread and the strongest thing in the universe is somebody touching your head.

about

Beautifully Mad Sydney, Australia

Breathtaking original music reminiscent of the beauty of James Taylor, some honey from Melody Gardot, a lyrical spice of Cohen washed down with some Waits-like humour. A musical flame that licks at the heels of Folk and Jazz
