about

This song was written about the real angels in the world doing amazing work, often with little or no recognition, as opposed to mythological angels. We have been helped by them over and over. Kris Ralph is one of them. This song is for Kris and the other angels.

lyrics

My Kind Of Angel
© Tony King 1997

I don't believe in Angels with wings
Or a choir invisible that does nothing but sing
or golden light around a Boticeli smile
'cause you can't call them up when you're desperate to dial
and Gabriel's playing that trumpet all day
must make it hard to hear people pray
but I do believe in Angels on earth who go about their business with no thought of its worth.
They're my kind of Angel...
Are you looking in the garden? are you looking in the Sky?
Angels aren't marble and Angels can't fly
but once in a while they turn up on time with tattoos and spanners and a face made for crime.
They're waiting on tables, they're working in labs
They're delivering papers and babies in cabs
They do what they can but not always what they should
My kind of Angel is bad and is good.
Everyone's a devil, though the good book may scoff
but a devil is an angel on a rostered day off
They're my kind of Angel....

I've examined your body and you don't have wings.
You don't have a halo and you don't always sing
but once on a blue moon you turned up on time
and killed the villain in my pantomime
You're my kind of Angel
You're my kind of Angel
once on a blue moon you turned up on time
and killed the villain in my pantomime

about

Beautifully Mad Sydney, Australia

Breathtaking original music reminiscent of the beauty of James Taylor, some honey from Melody Gardot, a lyrical spice of Cohen washed down with some Waits-like humour. A musical flame that licks at the heels of Folk and Jazz
